Een verfijnde rum uit de Dominicaanse Republiek, Brugal 1888 Ron Gran Reserva Familiar wordt tweemaal gedistilleerd voor extra zuiverheid en rijpt eerst in Amerikaans eikenhout. De tweede rijping vindt plaats in Spaanse eiken sherryvaten, wat zorgt voor krachtige, fruitige en zoete tonen. De neus is zoet en getoast, met aroma’s van verkoold eikenhout, gevolgd door sultana’s en dadels, rook en honing. In de mond komen smaken van butterscotch, manukahoning, demerarasuiker en een subtiele houtrook naar voren. De toffee-appelafdronk is subliem, met een vleugje gezouten boter.
